Boots 'n Bags!

Frye_dorado_2

I posted already about my favorite Hayden Harnett bag, so I can't leave out the other necessity and obsession: boots! I adore these Frye Dorado riding boots. I have a pair of similar boots from Cole Haan in brown, and wear them non-stop; these are the perfect complement, in black!

Feist

FeistIt's been a while since I've posted about musical interests; and since that time, I have grown fond of a band out of Toronto, Canada called Feist. I guess the genre can be profiled as alternative, with American folk influences... you just need to listen and absorb it on your own.  They have hit mainstream, with their songs played on Grey's Anatomy and an iPod Nano commercial, but that surprises me. I love their unique sound, and really recommend purchasing the album entitled The Reminder on Amazon or downloading it on iTunes (my favorite song: I'm Sorry), and judging for yourself.

Jade Mountain, St Lucia

JademountainThis morning, the beau introduced me to Jade Mountain, St Lucia. Simply put, this exclusive resort is paradise. From the website:

Expect grand sweeping spaces beyond your imagination, with your bedroom, living area and extravagantly sized private infinity edge pool gliding into one another to form an amazing platform floating in space, with the 4th wall missing entirely - the result is a stage-like setting from which to embrace the full glory - and  infinite views - of St. Lucia's twin Pitons and the shimmering Caribbean Sea - a view you are not likely to ever forget

There aren't any immediate plans to visit, as the rates are a tad steep (I'd die for the scuba package, only $14K per couple!). It's fun to dream!

New Table & First Thanksgiving

Our new dining room table just arrived from CB2! I am so excited. What this means, aside from finally filling the void in our condo and opening the door to multiple dinner parties (oh and the end of my complaining), is that we are also throwing our first Thanksgiving feast. It will be a small crowd - just my immediate family - but we are very excited.

Here is the Envelope Table (seats up to 10!):

The Zebra Chairs will be arriving next week:

If anyone has personal tips on how to be successful at your first Thanksgiving, please let me know!

Lemonade @ Web Innovators

Last night I attended my first Web Innovators Group meeting, at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge, MA. This is a spectacular networking schmoozing event, targeting those individuals who are passionate about Mobile and Web technologies and innovations, and thirsty to learn what local start-ups and young minds in the space are up to. The evening featured a mingling cocktail hour, where attendees can visit the various tables set-up around the perimeter of the ballroom, showcasing innovative products and services, followed by a series of "main dish" demos (5 minutes) and "side dishes" (about 1 minute) presentations from local entrepreneurs and self-funded start-ups, such as iiProperty, Flipkey, Mix and Meet and 360Gadget to name a few; also, they introduced "nibbles", quick 30 second max speeches/introductions from individuals who want a moment in the spotlight to hopefully spark further conversations with folks interested in their technology, service, or "big idea".

By far, my favorite product demo was by Tom Zawacki, CEO and co-founder of Lemonade. This web-based, and soon to be mobile-based, application allows users to create and customize their own personalized "Lemonade Stand", add products of personal interest from a LARGE catalog to the stand, and add the stand to their personal blog, Facebook page or other digital social community and actually earn commission on the sales. The best part: its just a few simple clicks and you are live.

So, I gave it a shot, and below (and to the right) you will see my personal lemonade stand, called "TheDish Boutique". Take a shop around inside, through the selection of food and wine realted products perfect for your holiday entertaining. I'll update the boutique with different items regularly. And if you have a sec, pop over to the Lemonade site, and create your own! What an innovative way to converge ecommerce and the digital community space; oh, and it's a lot of fun! Nice going guys!

In L.A. with L.L.

Digitalholywood

I spent this week at the Digital Hollywood conference in - you guessed it - Hollywood, CA. I gained some valuable insights into the world of emerging medias, broadband video services and video streaming, white label social networking apps, and more; however, the highlight of my trip was not related to digital media & entertainment, but rather Lindsay Lohan!

Lindsay_lohan_3 I had dinner with friends on Wednesday (Halloween) evening at Il Sole, a fabulous boutique Italian restaurant on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood. I was prying my friend for her list of celebrity sightings since she and her husband moved to LA a couple years ago, when she suddenly whispered "LL... LL...LL!". I looked up, to see the blond Lindsay Lohan herself, dressed in a short black dress with thigh-highs and boots along-side Riley Giles, her rehab snowboarder boyfriend, greeting friends with hugs and kisses. She was seated 10 feet or so directly in front of us; the view was unobstructed so I naturally found myself staring at her, like a would at anyone in my direct view. The photo above was captured that night; I didn't dig the blond on her at all nor the orange hue of her skin probably from self-tanner, and she has packed on a few lb's since hopping on the wagon (I hope), but she did have a sparkling smile despite what these photos show. And no, she wasn't drinking anything but a post-rehab Coca Cola; I am sure the repugnant paparazzi lined-up outside with the curious cameras were hoping to see something a bit juicier. Rachel Zoe, the controversial stylist to the stars, also popped in for a visit.

Here's some more photos from that night.
